The Chicago Standard helped to develop a new set of construction standards for public buildings. It was originally developed to guide the design, construction and renovation of municipal facilities, and was derived from benchmarks set by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines. Although it was originally developed for use in Chicago’s municipal facilities, it can be used to help any construction or renovation project, public or private.
